Evaluation

Evaluation:
Q1) In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms an conventions of real media products?

Voiced over Commentary:

Comparison of Documentaries that are Real and My Documentary:

We have clearly followed the codes and conventions as the Interviewee here is looking directly at the interviewer and not at the camera, the framing on our interviews, follow the rule of thirds as the interviewee's eye lines is roughly around a 3rd of the way down the frame, Shown also compared with the Simpson's 20th anniversary Documentary.

During the interview with the Tattoo Artist we ensured that the mise en scene in the background related to her being a Tatooist, here we see cleaning equipment followed along by other equipment in which she uses as a tattooist, we used this setting as we want the audience to know that she is a real tattooist and that it creates an authentic projection. This is in comparison with the Simpson's 20th anniversary Documentary, as Marge's voice actress is placed next to her image in The Simpsons.

In comparison with the Jaws Documentary, Our Archive Footage related to the dialogue that was being said by the interviewee, we used the cutaway of Jesse Metcalfe as he is a celebrity who is describing a tattoo that he would like to get, and this reflects what the tattoo artist is talking about, "How celebrities influence people to get a tattoo".

Comparison of the Newspaper Advert:

A Real Channel 4 Documentary

My Newspaper Advert for my Documentary

We have clearly followed the forms of a newspaper advert, we have a simple image like the Newspaper artical which was created for an actual Channel 4 documentary, It is strong image that instantly is recognisable for the type of documentary it is, Our Advert also has the channel 4 logo so it shows the audience where the documentary is on, also stating the time and date it is on. We have a slogan on our advert which is usually a convention, but the orginal Channel 4 documentary doesnt have one, showing they went against the conventions of a newspaper advert.

My Radio advert, has a music bed aswell as the Documentary for the history channel, this is showing how that It is conforming with the rules of a radio advert.

Q2) How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

Question Two Answered by Recording of Voice:

The Products together:

The Font on Indelible Art here, is similar to the font that we used for our documentary Title.

Both of the Ancillary texts have the slogan "Think Ink", we used it in both because slogans can help audience relate the Newspaper Advert and also the Radio Advert together. Also the colour scheme is blue because our research told us that blue was a well liked colour from our questionaires that we gave out to people. We think that our products come as a package because of the well thought out ethos we wanted to carry out, always relating the projects together.
It is important that the Ancillary texts related to the main product as they are a promotion to the documentary and are needed to gain the audience attention, to get the audience attention we used bits of the documentary in the Radio advert, to give them a glance of what the documentary will be about, we used a image of a girl with a tattoo because we wanted to ensure that it related to the documentary and to the theme of tattoo's.
